standing in the kitchen dancing to fela in my lu'ua getup and apron, working on assembling kabobs for the grill with my back to the door. listening as a friends unload into the house and complete final prep in the yard. his voice whispers unexpectedly in my ear as he kisses the back of my neck, "you look scrumptious."
my heart rate quickens as i blush and my face lights up. "hey you," i squeeze out, as a whisper when he kisses the back of my neck again.
he hugs me from behind as i apologize for having my fingers covered in sauce. we have a quick conversation, where i ask if you will come back, thank you for the video, and ask a small favor...and you express your desire to be there, frustration with work, and that you will take care of it.
our whole exchange lasts for maybe 5 minutes... but that type of exchange is something i could get used to.

its been a hot minute
yeah, i has been quite a bit of time since ive written here. for some reason my writing as of late has taken a strictly paper format. ive even started a new journal (generally this marks a symbolic turning point in my life).
lately i guess the idea of writing for what every audience beyond myself (i'm not sure who is really reading this anymore) has seemed overwhelming and nearly enough to silence my key clicks.
it isnt that there hasnt been great moments that i replay in my mind. in fact, in the last month there have been significant conversations, romantic moments, plenty of self reflection, amazing visitors and experiences (thanks hulin, prescott, and sanchez), laughter with friends new and old, sports moments, large life changes (unemployment and consulting) and you know.... the rest of life.
so i suppose by putting that out there - though it is far from details or meaningful to others... i want to mark this entry as a restart, or a return from the off season of blogging.
life hasnt become more challenging really, but it has forced for more self reflection, and i feel like this might be one of the proper venues for such.
